FAQ

1. General Information

What is the VSUJ?

The Association of Swiss In-House Counsel (VSUJ) is a professional association for in-house legal counsel. Its objectives include the exchange of experience on legal issues from practice in industrial, commercial, and service companies, continuing education, promotion of young professionals, fostering relationships among in-house counsel, and upholding professional ethics.

Our members are based throughout Switzerland. Most of our events take place in the German-speaking region and in Romandy.

You can contact individual board members or the association directly via email at info@vsuj.ch.

2. Membership

Who can become a VSUJ member?

Membership of the association is open to natural persons who perform legal duties for a company headquartered in Switzerland and/or work in its legal department. Natural persons who primarily provide legal advice to companies as external advisers are not admitted.

Additionally, companies headquartered in Switzerland may also become members, provided they employ at least one natural person as defined in the first paragraph of this provision.

The membership is non-transferable.

On our website, under “Become a Member,” fill out the application form. The board will then review your application and notify you upon approval, granting access to the members-only area.

Members enjoy a wide range of benefits, including access to exclusive events, networking opportunities, professional development programs, and legal updates.

Membership fees vary depending on the type of membership. For individuals, the membership fee is currently CHF 80 per year. For companies with up to five affiliated lawyers, it is CHF 320, and for companies with more than five affiliated lawyers, it is CHF 640.

3. Events and Activities

What types of events does the VSUJ organize?

We organize a variety of events designed to support professional development and networking among our members.

Currently, we host spring, summer, and autumn events. A general assembly is held in the first half of the year. In addition, we regularly offer Practice Group events (e.g., Young Professionals or Legal Operations/Legal Technology) throughout the year for interested members.

The events aim to inform members about legal developments relevant to in-house counsel. In addition to legal updates, we also offer non-legal training on topics such as negotiation skills, design thinking, financial management, or technology skills.

An overview of our current events can be found on our website under «Events» . There you can register as a member for events that interest you. You will receive a confirmation email as soon as your registration is complete.

Some events are free of charge for members (such as the summer event), while others (e.g., the spring and autumn events) may require a registration fee. You can find the exact costs on the respective event pages.

Events are open to VSUJ members. Non-members may attend once as a guest.

4. Services
